About Langford Quarry

Since 1989, Langford Quarry has been an essential source of sand and gravel for the East Midlands. Located just a short distance from the River Trent and neighbouring the communities of Collingham, Holme, Langford and Winthorpe, the quarry plays a key role in providing materials for building and infrastructure projects across the region.

As part of our work to make a positive difference to our community, we have sponsored nearly twenty local organisations with over £500,000 worth of funding since 2015 through the Landfill Communities Fund. These include donations to sports clubs and community facilities across Collingham, Holme and Nottingham as well as dedicating hours of volunteering time and donating materials.

Key Highlights:

  • Over 35 years of supplying construction materials for building materials across the region
  • £500,000 donated to over 20 local organisations, since 2015
  • 70 hectares of rich wetland habitat and the largest reedbeds in the East Midlands delivered as part of our site restoration
  • Over 220 bird species flourishing at our newly restored RSPB Langford Lowfields Nature Reserve

Public Consultation

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public consultation on a proposed small-scale, short-term extension to Langford Quarry, which ran from Monday 2 June to Sunday 15 June 2025.

Following the close of the consultation, Tarmac intends to submit a planning application to Nottinghamshire County Council later this year. The Council will then hold its own statutory consultation, providing a further opportunity for you to have your say.

Thank you again for your interest in the future of Langford Quarry.
